Please explore this web site to find out more about the school and contact us with any questions. Founded in 1988 by Dr. and Mrs. David L. Ralph, AVCS is located in the beautiful Mojave Desert city of Lancaster, California, USA. Lancaster is approximately one hour northeast of Los Angeles, in a region referred to as the high desert, at an elevation of about 2500 feet. The campus is comprised of 30 acres of flat land where the preschool, elementary, middle and high schools are surrounded by beautiful panoramic vistas, snow capped mountains in the winter, and Joshua trees which are unique to the area. Antelope Valley Christian School is a special place for students of all ages to come together to study. We are distinguished by our WASC accredited, college preparatory curriculum, interscholastic sports, fine and performing arts, and program for international students. The student body is currently composed of approximately 350 American and 50 international students. The faculty and staff are committed to develop and instill within each student a love for God and family as well as respect for others. The AVCS program stresses a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as the foundation of Christian education with an emphasis on biblical principles to govern personal behavior, communication, actions, and perception of society. AVCS also offers several programs to students from the international community who desire to pursue education in the United States. Antelope Valley Christian School offers the following dynamic and challenging programs for students from other countries who desire an American education experience: Full Academic School Year Program (Late August - Early June) This program is structured to equip international students with the English language skills and academics required for college success within the United States. AVCS believes total immersion in English at school and in the Residential Center is the best way to master the language. Students participate in all aspects of school life including the academic program, sports, and interaction with American students. This approach rapidly builds English skills. College preparatory program English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is offered as an integral part of the program Students gain experience in America education and culture in preparation for college Students entering 7th through 12th grades live in our on-campus Residential Center (see below for more information about the Residential Center) Students go on field trips to Southern California locations such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, sports events, visits to local government offices, beaches, or shopping in the local area American Cultural Experience (A.C.E.) ACE is a short program designed for students visiting the United States and desiring to learn more about our culture, language, and history. The ACE program is a group program. We will customize programs for groups of 5 or more. Please go to the following link for more information about the ACE program. Summer School (Mid June - Late July) There are two 3 week summer academic terms that take place on a compressed schedule Students may enroll for one or both summer terms ESL classes are offered to help international students improve English skills in preparation for the next school year Students live in the Residential Center on-campus. The Antelope Valley Christian School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Accreditation is an important step that ensures our academic program has met or exceeded high standards of education quality and continuing improvement. We have pursued and maintain accreditation so that you may have confidence in the educational excellence available at AVCS and to open doors of opportunity for students to attend colleges that require graduation from an accredited school. We recommend you visit the WASC web site if you have any questions about the accreditation process, standards, or its importance for students, parents, and teachers.
