We welcome students from all over the world and the local area into our vibrant and varied community. Girls and boys between the ages of 13 and 19 enjoy fabulous facilities on our safe 50 acre campus set in the heart of the English countryside. We expect our students to achieve the highest standards and to gain entry to top universities in the UK. We also take care to nurture the individuality of students at Concord to develop their self-confidence. They are also encouraged to understand the needs of others and to respect the values of the Concord community. We are very proud of the academic success of the students here at Concord. Here are some of our headlines from 2010/11: 3rd in The Times school league table (co-ed schools) and 4th in the independent schools league table based on data provided by the ISC 79% A*/A at A Level (92% A*-B grade & 100% A*-D) 201 A* grades awarded at A Level 14 students into Oxford and Cambridge 17 students into UK medical schools 10 students into LSE, 14 to Imperial, 19 into UCL and to 9 to Warwick 65% of Concord's 2011 leavers are now attending UK Top 10 universities (80% in to their first choice of university) Best ever GCSE results (53% A* & 80% A*/A) Students at Concord College are expected to aim for the highest academic standards. They are encouraged to develop a strong sense of personal responsibility in their approach to study. Students are self-motivated and are also encouraged to support each other. Teachers and Tutors guide the students and the entire culture of the College is directed towards this end. Students are prepared for either GCSE or A level courses. Both are generally studied as two year courses. Students are expected to score the highest grades at both levels. We also expect students to develop the ability to reason independently and to communicate their intellectual independence effectively. The College has a strong record of students entering top universities. Many former Concord students are currently studying at Oxford and Cambridge, as well as at the London School of Economics and Imperial College London. Concord also regularly places a large number of students at UK medical schools. In addition to academic study, students are given the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence in a wide range of settings. Sport, music, societies, dance and drama are all important aspects of College life. Students also make friendships with their classmates. These friendships help to develop confidence and give an extra layer of support. Friendships made at the College often last for many years after the students leave: in some cases these friendships have lasted a lifetime. At Concord we set very high academic standards. Students arrive here and want to do their best. They work incredibly hard to achieve not only their hopes and dreams, but the hopes and dreams of their families. Together the culture we create is one of success. Our results are remarkable: Concord students attend all the top universities. Whilst we recognise that life is not just about academic brilliance and there is a rich and varied programme of enrichment activities, academic progress is at the heart of everyday life at Concord. Concord is one of the highest achieving boarding schools in the UK. Teaching and learning are given the highest value and students are tested regularly to monitor their progress. Strengths are developed and guidance is given to ensure that students are prepared for the next stage of their education. At Form 3 (Year 9) students follow a broad curriculum to encourage a range of interests. At Form 4 (Year 10) all will study Mathematics, English and the sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) plus they can choose from a range of subjects including English Literature, History, Geography, Economics, Spanish, French, German, Latin, Art, Photography and Music to study to GCSE. In the Sixth Form (Year 12) students can choose to study either three or four subjects to A Level plus one or two subjects to AS Level.
