ASCIS is founded and based on principles of the Roman Catholic Church. We are associated with the University of Windsor with access to library resources, laboratories and computer services. Selected professors from the university teach and advise at ASCIS. ASCIS is an IB World School. Secondary School ASCIS’ High School offers the stringent 'University Bound' courses and therefore, we welcome students who are aiming to pursue their post-secondary studies at prestigious universities throughout the world. We offer these fine academic students a variety of subjects which will allow them to graduate from ASCIS with their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Our students have the option to study a great number of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. In addition, we encourage our students who want the ultimate academic challenge to follow our special courses which will allow them to write the IB examinations: since 1997, ASCIS has been affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization and has been preparing students for the world recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma). We are proud to state that our graduates have been successful in their post-secondary/university studies. Most of our graduates have secured positions in the professions in their chosen fields. Our students originate from a long list of foreign countries. This provides the ASCIS student body, foreign and domestic, with a true introduction into the exciting era of world-wide globalization. Elementary School The Academie Ste Cecile Elementary School features strong academics, a highly-qualified and professional staff, an enriched curriculum, educational field trips and activities and a safe and secure learning environment all designed to promote the individual success of each student. A strong emphasis on the core subjects of English, Math, Social Studies and Science is combined with regular classes in French, Mandarin, Spanish, Music, Art, Drama, Computers and Physical Education. The school provides a full day, every-day program from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 8. Small class sizes and an ideal pupil-teacher ratio provide students with individualized instruction and support. Outside of these classes, students may take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as Student Council, Math Club, Writers Club, Book Club, Chess Club, Choir and Band. Our Elementary House League and School Sports teams include Cross-Country, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Floor Hockey, Track and Field and Slow-Pitch Baseball. In addition, classes in Ethics and Religion or Life Skills teach the children to respect the religious and cultural diversity in our school community. Special activities such as Diversity Day, Science Fair, Speech Contest, Spelling Bee, Music Monday, Caribou and other Math Contests, assemblies and concerts, etc. provide an opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge and skills on a personal level. At ASCIS there is a strong sense of family between the parents and staff. Communication and involvement with parents is encouraged through a daily homework website, a progress report and three term report cards, parent-teacher interviews, a monthly newsletter and assembly and special scheduled events.
