Other Information: St. George's is a university preparatory school that occupies two campuses, one with a heritage building that serves the Junior School (Grades 1 to 7) and one with a modern facility that houses the Senior School (Grades 8 to 12). Total enrollment is 1150, of which 120 are boarding students from over 15 countries worldwide. At St. George’s, we are committed to a program that nurtures the well-rounded student. With over 50 problem-solving based academic options, from advanced mathematics to psychology to animation; with over 20 Advanced Placement courses that are internationally recognized; with over 50 athletic options, 50 clubs, and 60% of the student body enrolled in band; with a designated Community Service program that has students building schools in Peru, St. George’s School knows what it takes to prepare its students for university and for life. That is why 100% of its students consistently gain admission to the finest universities worldwide. In fact, over 30% of the graduating class enter some of the top universities in the US while over 10% head off to select universities in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1930, St. George’s School is one of Canada’s premier boarding and day schools for boys. Located in the world-class city of Vancouver, and nestled on two campuses close to the University of British Columbia, the school offers 1150 boys from over 18 countries worldwide one of the most comprehensive and demanding university preparatory programs in the country. Three terms over a 36-week school year: Term 1: September - November Term 2: December - February Term 3: March - June Students sit formal exams in the final weeks of Terms 1 and 3. Mid-term assessments are also tabulated in Terms 1 and 3, and there is a mid-year marks report (early February) for those applying to US colleges. Virtually all courses are of full-year duration. Class periods in the Senior School are 75 minutes, and each class meets five times in a two-week cycle. No classes exceed 26 students, and most senior electives average 12 to 20 students. Admission is highly selective and students are expected to meet rigorous entrance standards and demonstrate excellence outside the classroom. The school does not offer English as a Second Language (ESL).
