Other Information: The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is the largest public school district in Western Canada, with over 221 schools, serving 104,000 students. The CBE follows a provincial curriculum set out by Alberta Educationís Program of Studies. Students who successfully complete high school courses are eligible to receive credits toward an Alberta high school diploma. The CBE offers a wide range of program choices. In addition to academic courses, all students take a range of options to ensure a well-rounded education. An international student coordinator works with students to provide a customized timetable based on the studentís goals, needs and interests. Full ESL support is provided for international students at no extra charge. International students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities. The Calgary Board of Education, as one of the largest public school districts in Canada, has one of the countryís most experienced and qualified teaching staff. Education programs have high academic standards and include a complete range of elementary, junior high school and high school academic courses as well as many optional courses. The Global Learning Services has designated seven high schools that are the best for international students. Each of these high schools has an International Coordinator on staff to help international students with their academic and social programs.
