Rated by The Sunday Times Parent Power as “Amongst the best performing schools in Greater London”, Homefield School has cemented its powerful academic reputation by securing a 76% pass rate at level 5 in Key Stage 2 examinations this year, and has continued to achieve a 100% pass rate at Common Entrance to 36 senior schools over the last 10 years. An average of 14 awards for Art, Music, Sport, All-round and Academic achievements are won annually. This year 37 boys in the upper 6th form have once again safely qualified for 17 senior schools via Common Entrance, and boys and staff have together amassed a record tally of 29 awards. The first XV also holds the title of National Preparatory Schools' Rugby Champions, whilst the 1st XI soccer team reached the final of the Surrey Preparatory Schools' Soccer Championship. The chess teams won the U9 English Primary Schools' Chess Association title and were placed equal first, with Wellington College, in the British Land UK Chess Challenge. The school is renowned for its intimacy and family atmosphere, small class sizes, the fulfilment of individual potential, the openness of communication, the provision of specialist teaching at the earliest appropriate opportunity (French, ICT, Music and Sport from the Foundation stage), its commitment to best practice and its all round academic, musical, dramatic, sporting and artistic achievements. The recent ISI inspection report, now posted on the school’s website, states that “the care that the staff give to the well-being of the boys is outstanding”, “the boys are happy, valued and challenged but not pressured” and compliments the “extensive and varied programme of extra-curricular activities”. The school has county or national representatives in table-tennis, squash, tennis, athletics, swimming, soccer, rugby, cricket and chess. Awareness of others is encouraged and the pupils are involved in many fund-raising charity events, raising over £6,000 this year. Learning support is available for children with special needs. A wide range of opportunities is planned to extend gifted pupils such as World Class Maths Tests, Townsend Warner Prize and the French National Poetry Competition. We offer academic, sporting, art and music scholarships as well as the occasional bursaries. Daily minibuses run to and from Wimbledon and other areas. A breakfast and after school club is now available.
