Kells Academy prides itself on its methods of comprehensive, individualized learning within an academic environment. Its international band of dedicated teachers is highly qualified, its programs custom-tailored, its student-to-teacher ratio exceptionally low (8:1), its classes small (10 to 15 students). Kells’ unique mentoring system enables it to address students’ individual needs, to nurture their sense of self worth. International students can enter the Kells Academy high-school program at any point from grades 7 to 11. At Kells Academy, students begin with an individual assessment and placement. Each is helped to adapt to the new language and culture as they prepare for academic success. Individual tutorials are offered after school, as are courses in the fundamentals of conversational English or French. Students are asked to comply with dress code guidelines. Students are integrated into a program of Intermediate and Advanced Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. Courses, lasting anywhere from two to ten months, are geared toward graduation with a Quebec High School Diploma. (This Quebec diploma gives students the choice of attending Quebec CEGEPS or two- or three-year college programs.) The courses are also designed to help students achieve better TOEFL scores.
